Тренер ASVEL про майбутнє клубу в НБА Європи: ‘Не моє діло коментувати’

Coach Pierric Poupet downplayed talk of Tony Parker’s ASVEL joining NBA Europe, saying he’s focused on the team while the organization decides its future beyond the EuroLeague.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne owner Tony Parker openly discussed the possibility of joining NBA Europe, and a recent meeting in London reportedly brought the legendary NBA guard and his management closer to securing one of the 12 founding spots in NBA Europe.

On top of that, Le Progres reported that ASVEL are preparing to leave the EuroLeague after the 2025-26 season and move to the FIBA Basketball Champions League (BCL), with an eye on joining the future NBA Europe project.

When asked about the club leaning toward the NBA Europe, head coach Pierric Poupet avoided speculation:

«Not my job to answer this question,» Poupet said after a 96-59 loss in Kaunas. «I’m focused on my team right now. We’re part of the EuroLeague, which is a great competition. The organization will decide about where they want to go and what decision they wanna make for the future.»

ASVEL finished 15th last EuroLeague season (13–21), 17th in the 2023-24 campaign (9–25), and last (18th) in 2022-23 (8–26).

They are currently 19th in the 2025-26 EuroLeague season with a 2-6 record.

ASVEL’s budget for this season is €18.6 million, and its payroll is €4.55 million.
